In the Soil, 2011
St. Catharines - In the Soil, the Niagara region's perennial multidisciplinary arts festival, is back for its third year to celebrate our original homegrown talent with 5 days of arts events from April 27 to May 1 2011. This year, Brock's Centre for the Arts will host the Top Soil evening on Thursday 28 April featuringHowler, Christine Bougie, Mark Lalama and The Peter Elkas Band.
The Top Soil event will bring together some of Niagara and Southern Ontario's most gifted singer-songwriters for one unforgettable night. Canadian Indie scene darling Peter Elkas (former Local Rabbits front man) and his band will play from his acclaimed 2011 release, Repeat Offender. Niagara native Mark Lalama comes to the stage in support of his first solo project, Home, following an impressive list of credits as a performer, producer, composer, and musical director for artists such asMariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi, Martina McBride and the CTV hit show Canadian Idol. Lap steel aficionado Christine Bougie and friends will play from her masterful solo work, Aloha Supreme; she has been praised by Ron Sexsmith as "one of the most interesting and versatile guitarists in Canada." Local emerging super group, Howler, will open the evening with their sweet, soily sounds.
